Right from the security protocols to make sure that you travel comfortably, there are a number of things you need to check before you leave for the airport. We have created this checklist to ensure that you travel smart every time.
If you are planning to catch a flight, right from the moment you start preparing for the trip until the time you comfortably sit on your seat on the flight, everything can seem uneasy and panicky. Be it the security protocols or things that you need to ensure to experience a comfortable journey; there are a number of things that you need to check before you leave for the airport.
If you are about to fly soon, use the checklist mentioned below to make sure that you get to enjoy a flying experience just like you’d expect.
- Carry the Right Documents
Depending on the type of trip it is, make sure that you carry all the right documents like passport, ticket, visa, ID proof, etc. You’ll need all of it for international flights but only your ticket and ID proof for domestic flights.
- Check-in Online
Many of the air carriers in India now allow you to check-in online a few hours or a couple of days before the flight. Use this feature as it can save you a lot of time and it can be a lifesaver in case you are late for the flight.
- Check Flight Status
Whether it is Go Air Flight Status or of any other flight, your PNR number can help you check not only the flight status and find out if it is delayed or not, but you can also use it to pre-book your meals or pay for extra baggage in advance.
- Know the Baggage Rules
While the baggage rules vary between air carriers, they are more or less the same. Ensure that you check the baggage policy of your carrier before leaving for the airport. Some tickets these days are also cabin-baggage only fare. This means you can only carry one cabin baggage weighing up to 7 Kg. If it is a normal ticket, you can usually carry up to 15 Kg. If you are carrying more than this, make sure you check the charges per kg for your extra baggage.
- Manage your Finances
Be it Chennai Delhi flights or international flights; never leave our home unless you have sorted your finances for the trip. Carry cash, credit/debit card, and traveler’s checks if required. While metros like Delhi and Chennai may have an abundance of ATMs tier II or tier III cities may not have as much ATMs and you may have to rely on cash for some transactions.
While the advancements in technology have made this world a smaller place, it is better to be safe than sorry. Remember this checklist before you leave for the airport, and you’d probably enjoy a safe and comfortable journey.
